In a quest to find the best museum food (Vegetarian/Vegan) we have arrived in Madrid Spain to the Museo Nacional de Reigna Sofia. This museum is the centre for modern 20:th century art in Madrid. The restaurant is called Arzábal and is at the bottom floor with a nice outdoor courtyard area as well as indoor dining areas.
The courtyard is very nice, like a small oasis in the big city. We had lunch and the service was very good and the food up to a good standard.
We had the Risotto for lunch and an Estrella beer to drink, this came to a total of €21.50 which is a fairly reasonable price for a museum lunch. We can recommend this restaurant. However, we find it hard to understand the lack of creativity chefs at most museum restaurants show when it comes to Vegan/Vegetarian food. Risotto seems to qualify as the Vegan/Vegetarian dish of choice at museums aroubd the world – what are they afraid of, this is the future? There is only really only one exception that comes to mind and that is “the modern” at moma in New York city.
