The Venice sign had an ‘O’ added to it in preparation for Saint Patrick’s day tomorrow March 17 2017. Saint Patrick who lived A.D. 385-461 was the foremost saint of Ireland and the feast (Irish-“Lá Fhéile Pádraig” or “The day of the festival of Patrick”) is held on the death date of Saint Patrick. Don’t forget to wear Green!

Lost Cat award flier in Venice

The above flier started appearing around the neighborhood yesterday. It seems that someone is missing their cat so much that they are willing to reward anyone that can bring “Tabby” home again to the tune of $20,000.00 big ones…

It turns out the cat actually lives in Marina del Rey, just to the south of Venice and there are fliers in the whole surrounding area.

March Fog Madness

We are currently fogged in at the beach, it is like June gloom in March. We overheard someone at the dog resting area of the Boardwalk saying “What do we even call this, I have no name for this?” The national weather service has issued a “Dense fog advisory” for the area. We might just call it “March Fog madness”.

Here is an update from Monday March 13 2017 – the fog is still with us.

Atmospheric river rages on

The rain is still with us here in California and an atmospheric river seems to hold steady over us – The rain is badly needed after years of drought, but the amounts are on the upper end of what we can handle and we are now hoping for an end to the rain. In the water year starting October 1 2016 and continuing until September 30 2017 as of January 31 we have received 11.69 inches which is 182% of the 30 year average amount at this time of the water year. This is not including any rainfall in February of this year which has also been very substantial.
