Rome – the Colosseum

There are many things to see in Rome and one of them is:

The Colosseum

Colosseum construction started in 70 AD and was finished in 80 AD, the original name was the Flavian Amphitheatre. It was later renamed Colosseum after a Colossal statue of Nero that stood outside the Amphitheatre. The statue which was altered through the years to depict gods and other emperors was eventually removed during the middle ages and the only remainder is the base on which it once stood right outside the Colosseum.

The Colosseum was used for Gladiator games but it was also for a short period used for mock sea battles during which the arena was filled with water.

Rome – The Vatican and Il Papa

There are many things to see in Rome and one of them is:

People start filling up St Peter’s square early morning on Sunday if the Pope (Francis) is in town. Around 11:30 it is getting pretty crowded and the anticipation is palpable, he is a popular guy! He appears from the window of the papal quarters in the vatican, although being a Jesuit and accustomed to more modest means, he lives in a room at the vatican guest house.

Rome – Fonzie, for a vegan burger

There are no big signs outside this place so you need to know where to go. It is located in the old Jewish part of Rome.

Chickpea burger with fries and a beer €10.40 There are a couple of small counters to sit and eat at and both the burger and the fries are quite good good so, thumbs up! Located in the old Jewish part of Rome, they also have bagels should you feel like one. Located at Via Catanzaro, 33, 00161 Roma, Italy
